MVR UPDATE
April 18, 2011
To my dear Sisters and Brothers, I am to you in regards' to the aftermath of the severe storms that pasted through the south and east of the U.S. over this past weekend. If you have not heard by now, these storms were deadly and have caused a number of deaths in sever(il states. I would ask first that you pray for the families of those that have lost loved ones, some of the victims were children! Pray God's Mercy and Peace over this Suffering in the knowledge that He hears the prayers of His intercessors! I also ask you to be praying for the many who have lost their homes and possibly their jobs as a result of this disaster! Please pray for the many volunteers that will respond in the next few days and weeks and their willingness to serve will bring Hope back to those that have lost so much!
MVR has received requests for information about how we as Moravians can help in this effort. Below is a list of addresses in North Carolina that the relief organization Samaritan's Purse "SP" have set up and they will be glad to help you serve in the cleanup and recovery. These sites will be operated by SP and you will work under their direction. If you live within a few hours of these sites, SP asked that you come and spend days volunteering so to not use up valuable bed space for those who are volunteering from far away. If any of you living outside North Carolina feel the need to come and serve, please contact SP at Samaritan's Purse.org and follow the instructions. Please contact me as well so I will know you are serving and that any of us living in NC may come and join you!
If you live in the Triad area ofNC and would be available for day trips to any of these locations, please contact me! I will be arranging day trips to one or more of these areas! !
If you cannot come and serve, MVR will accept monetary gifts and donations from any of those that hear the call to do so, Please do nQUabel your gift or donatio!! to any place Or disaster, please just label you donation" MVltDisaster Relief'. This will give MVR the flexibility to use your gift for the greatest need!
Please remember that we as Moravians are still serving as disaster relief volunteers in a number of other places and that our work is far from done, please pray that our Lord will raise up many more to serve those in need, until He come!!
Your fellow servant

Volunteers Needed
Samaritan's Purse is looking for volunteer teams and individuals to help people in eastern North Carolina affected by the most devastating outbreak of tornadoes in the state in more than 20 years. North Carolina Gov. Beverly Perdue declared a state of emergency for the entire state.
"Samaritan's Purse works all over the world responding to disasters but sometimes some of the most difficult places are within a few miles of home," said Samaritan's Purse President Franklin Graham. "Our prayers go out to the families who lost loved ones and those affected by the storm. We'll be doing all we can to help."
Volunteers are needed immediately for a short term response. Please contact us as soon as you can to help.
