WORSHIP

Worship Description:
We believe that worship is a time to gather as a community of believers and give praise and thanks to God for the gift of His grace.  Worship is a time we intentionally draw near to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through the preaching of the Word, Holy Communion, and Baptism.  We believe that the opportunity to worship is a gift of the Holy Spirit and brings Christians together eversparky2.gifywhere for God’s glory.

We begin worship with a welcome and announcement time, followed by the opportunity to greet one another with God’s peace.  We have all felt like strangers and this is one way to help people feel welcome.  We are a congregation that enjoys singing to God, and we use both contemporary and traditional songs in our worship.  We often have special music during the offering, at which time people have the opportunity to give to God if they so choose.  We take time to share our joys and concerns as a community and then lift them up to God in prayer.  We read Scriptures and then a message will be shared based on those words.  After worship we have Snak & Yak, a time of fellowship with refreshments and conversation.

You will find people of all age groups when you worship with us.  You will also find people from a wide variety of backgrounds at our church.  We believe that all people are beloved children of God and that He calls us to live in community with one another.

Music:
Moravians love music!  We have a long history in the denomination of special music, including brass bands and trombone choirs.  Christ’s Community Church carries on those traditions in our regular worship services as well as at special celebrations.  We have adult and children’s choirs as well as a brass band that plays for special occasions.  Our 25 year old sanctuary has a grand piano, an electric digital piano, an organ, snare drums, and bongo drums.  We use a new audio-visual system to project praise song lyrics as well as hymn lyrics at the front of the sanctuary.  Mary Fairbairn, music director and pianist, does an excellent job coordinating the music with the message of the service.

Children’s Chat:
We encourage children to attend church with their parents because we believe God desires to receive their worship.  We do offer a Children’sChildrensChurch1.jpg Church program during the second half of the worship service for interested children through 3rd grade.  There is a lesson and message presented during this program.

Nursery:
We offer an adult-staffed nursery for infants and toddlers on Sunday mornings from 8:30-11am from September through May and from 9-10:30 in the summer months.  We have a wonderful nursery coordinator on staff and a volunteer from the congregation serves with her in the nursery during worship every Sunday.  The nursery is large and bright and children love it!  Our intention is that families feel comfortable worshiping with their children but that they also have the option of using the nursery if they so desire.
